The CoverSensor is a trusted solution for securing critical infrastructure. It has been specially developed for monitoring manhole covers, doors, and other secure building openings, such as those found in substations and data centers. Owing to its self-contained design and rugged construction, the CoverSensor has been engineered to withstand sabotage, corrosion, and regular wear-and-tear.
The CoverSensor (1) is mounted on a slide (2) under spring tension. It is fastened to a surface such that it comes in contact with the door or cover (3) at a ferromagnetic point (note, if the door or cover is not ferromagnetic, a small piece of iron can be attached). The spring-loaded slide is pretensioned to compensate for slight movements to the door or cover (e.g., a vehicle driving over a manhole cover). Depending on the technology chosen, either an optical fiber or a copper cable (4) is manipulated, triggering a signal that is sent to the active monitoring unit. Alarms are sent over an IP network to the unified monitoring system (UMS)—a centralized software platform for asset management.

When it comes to maintaining the reliability of fiber-optic networks, the AquaSensor is an indispensable part of that task. Being specifically designed to detect moisture in splice boxes, splice trays, and other fiber-optic enclosures, the AquaSensor is a simple yet highly effective solution that pinpoints the exact location of the moisture intrusion before it’s too late.
If the hygroscopic tape (1) comes in contact with moisture, it begins to expand longitudinally. The tape wraps over a guide pulley (2) that acts on a spring-loaded plunger (3) and (4). The optical fiber (5) is gently compressed as a result of the tape’s expansion, which creates a measurable change in the fiber’s attenuation that is registered by the active monitoring system. Because it is a purely passive device, the AquaSensor does not require any maintenance, metallic wiring for signal transmission, or any energy supply.

Whether its from heavy rainfall, bursting pipes, or other unexpected sources, flooding can destroy critical systems in manholes, conduits, and other underground chambers. The Float Switch immediately detects the rising water/fluid levels and transmits a signal to the operator, allowing the problem to be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Because the Float Switch does not require any power supply (e.g., no battery) for sensing or communication, it is easily scalable across entire networks. By integrating a contact sensor with the Float Switch, up to 127 sensors can be connected to one bus over a transmission distance of 10 km.
